Audiosure proudly presents our Health Range of Products and the one range we are particularly excited about are the IsoPod’s. This locally manufactured system currently comes in two models the Solo and Womb.
The IsoPod is the solution to safely containing and housing a COVID19 infected patient for an extended isolation period in an environment that acts as a replica of a typical isolation ward. The IsoPod is designed and built to the specifications set out by the World Health Organization and is currently undergoing SAHPRA and SABS certification.
So how does the IsoPod keep the air clean for the person in isolation? And how does it protect people outside? IsoPod uses a negative room pressure ventilation system coupled to a built in air filtration system which is the same system utilized by hospitals. The negative room pressure environment ensures that air is allowed to naturally flow into the Pod and out through the filters preventing cross contamination with the surrounds. This air filtration system makes use of HEPA filters which removes over 99% of airborne particles. A regulation system automatically conducts the required amount of air changes per day as set out in the WHO standards for clean rooms.
The units themselves are manufactured with a steel frame coated in a sterile coating approved by the WHO for Hospital Beds. The Walls comprise of a non-toxic polymer coated board which is resistant to chemicals, so it is well suited for daily sterilization, and the floor of the Pod is covered in hospital grade vinyl flooring. Each of the IsoPods has tempered glass in the door and windows on the front and side of the Pods which act to allow natural light to enter the space. This too can controlled via a roll down plastic blind. For night time there are embedded LED lights which can be operated via a switch housed on the counter unit. Each of the IsoPods has enough space to fit a bed and the counter and there are 4 plug points housed on the counter so that an assortment of devices can be plugged in. In addition the larger Womb units come with a built-in toilet, handbasin, and shower both supplied with hot and cold water as well to ensure that a person can safely remain in total isolation.
The Solo unit is a spacious 2500mm (W) x 2500mm (D) x 2300mm (H) with the Wombs at 3200mm (W) x 2500mm (D) x 2300mm (H). Both of these units offer a comfortable and sheltered environment where a COVID19 patient can safely recover from the effects of the infection and mitigate the exposure to others.
The units both come available in a flatpack build with the Solo weighing in under 450kg in a shipping size of 2500mm (W) x 1350mm (D) x 600mm (H) and the Womb 2500mm (W) x 1350mm (D) x 600mm (H) tipping the scales at just under 500kg. It takes a team of 2 people to build the unit and it can be assembled in 45 minutes. From an electrical standpoint, the entire unit occupies a 15A space on a board which maintains the air pressure and filtration systems as well as pumps, plugs and lights.
