Digital Mixer Training JHB 2023
May is the Month when we kick off our sessions of Allen & Heath Digital Mixer training for engineers and sound technicians that would like either an introduction into the world of Digital Mixers or to brush up their existing knowledge. The training is run by certified Allen & Heath trainer and Live Engineer Lesedi Maponya who has a hearth of experience mixing and engineering FOH for bands and houses of worship around the province.
Starting this week he delved into the SQ range of mixers. This compact range of mixers offers up to 48 channels over 36 busses of I/O at 96kHz making them perfectly suited for broadcast, monitor and FOH work where top quality processing and effects are needed in a compact surface. The SQ systems supports Dante, SLink, Waves and MADI cards to expand your I/O possibilities and the handy SQ4You App lets up to 8 performers control their own monitor mixers via a wireless network. For the engineer the SQ MixPad app is available for free on iOS, Android, Windows and macOS platforms, and in Online mode, it provides wired or wireless control of the main mixing functions. This enables the engineer to mix from different listening positions, set up monitor mixes from the stage, or just add extra local control while in Offline mode, they can also store and manage scenes and shows, edit strip assignments and channel lists, transfer files to USB devices (PC and Mac only), or push/pull the show directly to/from the mixer.
Next week Lesedi will be digging into the Avantis console. This award-winning console from Allen & Heath delivers broadcast quality 96kHz operation across 64 channels and 42 busses with a fully configurable mix architecture. All the info is beautifully displayed on the custom GUI with Dual 15.6”Full HD touchscreens offering visual feedback of 24 faders across 6 layers adding up to a total of 144 fader strips. Avantis runs the same XCVI Programmable Field Gate engine from the dLive range (0.7ms of latency) and offers all the add-on processing from the flagships with the dPack option in a super strong, lightweight metal chassis made from aircraft grade aluminium.
If reading these specs is whetting your appetite, then best call us to book one of the sessions with Lesedi. The cost is R450 for the day and training starts at 8:30am and ends around 4pm with a break for a light lunch. Contact your account manager or RSVP directly with us to book your spot and come experience why Allen & Heath digital mixers are making their way onto the riders of increasingly more and more touring bands and acts.”
