Audiosure sends out our heartfelt congratulations to Frontline Church on their recent purchase of an Allen & Heath SQ5 Digital Mixer! Frontline Church is in Mulbarton, Johannesburg, and Pastors Ronelle De Klerk and Ryan lead the congregation. Their team in consultation with the specialists at Music Inc. arrived at the decision to get the SQ-5, not only based on the dramatic improvement in sound quality and ease of use but in the knowledge that their AV team now have the ability to live stream all the Church services to members who are homebound or not able to make it to the Church.

The Allen & Heath SQ5 is a compact Digital Mixer, powered by the same XCVI 96kHz FPGA engine found in the top-of-the-range dLive systems but with a maximum of 48 channels. The SQ5 has 16 local Onboard Preamps and 12 Line outputs with control via 17 faders and 6 layers. With a 7” high-resolution touchscreen, assignable SoftKeys and an integrated USB interface allowing multitrack recording and playback, the SQ5 is the perfect compact mixer for Front of House, Monitor, or Broadcast mixing.

The SQ5 was paired with the AR2412 stage box to allow for remote inputs on the stage. Using a single CAT5e cable the rack can be up to 100m away from the controllers surface! The AR2412 runs at 48kHz and delivers an additional 24 XLR inputs and 12 XLR outputs into the SQ-5. This capable AudioRack also features dedicated ports for extending connections to other stage boxes like the smaller AR84 or AB168, or use for the ME Personal Mixing System if the venue wanted to expand or invite other bands to perform without having to change their patching and setup.

Reinhardt van der Westhuizen, the Musical Director of the church commented that They are completely astounded by the mixer and the ease of operation as they are using voluntary helpers in the church to assist with mixing.

Special thanks to Music Inc. and Frontline Church Mulbarton
