Audiosure congratulates the Plug & Play Event Solutions team on their acquisition of both the Martin Audio WPC Line Array and TORUS Constant Curvature Array boxes. This full-spectrum event solutions company, based in Windhoek, Namibia, caters to events and functions of all scales. Their exceptional team is proficient in managing an entire festival from the ground up, covering everything from sound, lighting, AV, and staging to bar management, access control, and ticketing! No event is too small for their attention, and they pride themselves on a concept-to-completion ethos for their impressive list of clients.

Their discerning technical team selected 24 units from Martin Audio’s Wavefront Precision Compact Range. The WPC is a 3-way, bi-amped, 2×10” line array box featuring Martin Audio’s Scalable Resolution Advanced Array technology. This design allows the 24 units to be split into smaller systems, with iKON amplifier channels routed to deliver the required power based on space and box count. Paired with DISPLAY 3 software, the system offers powerful optimization to fully manage the audio environment. With features like “hard avoid,” audio engineers can keep sound within environmental limits and focus energy precisely where it’s needed—on an appreciative audience.

For amplification, the team chose the powerful iK42 amplifiers to complement the WPC system. Each iK42 amplifier delivers up to 20,000W of power across four channels and operates down to 2 ohms. These Class D amplifiers feature high-spec 96kHz DSP on all inputs and outputs, ensuring comprehensive monitoring and control, with over 1,000 FIR filter taps at 48kHz on each output channel. Control options for the iKON range include analog, AES3, or Dante protocols.

All iK42 amplifiers are housed in Martin Audio’s Tour Grade Amp Rack System, with input and output distribution neatly preinstalled in a 9U shock-mounted 19” rack. The system includes all necessary components, such as input patch panels, Ethernet switches, and analog, AES, and CAT5e patch leads. For seamless mobility, the WPC units are stored and transported in Martin Audio trolleys, each capable of carrying a stack of four boxes. The accompanying hardware includes rigging for both ground stacking and flying, complete with inclinometers to ensure accurate angling during setup.

For bass reinforcement, the SXH218 subwoofers are paired with the WPC array. These hybrid horn/reflex-loaded dual 18” subwoofers are renowned for ultra-high output performance. They produce a peak of 148dB at 1m, with a frequency response of 32–150Hz (+3dB). Each SXH218 is equipped with dual long-excursion 18” drivers featuring 4.5” voice coils, water-resistant cones, and triple-roll surrounds. They can be powered by a single channel of an iK42 amplifier or by a bridged pair for maximum output.

For short- and medium-throw environments, where a 10-degree line array might not be ideal, the Plug & Play Event Solutions team acquired the versatile TORUS Constant Curvature Array boxes. These hybrid units bridge the gap between line array and point source, offering consistent coverage with an efficient SPL profile. The team added both the 15-degree and 30-degree 12” models, the T1215 and T1230. Each TORUS enclosure features an adjustable horizontal dispersion pattern, which can be manually set to 90°, 60°, or 75° (asymmetrical) via the unique Dynamic Horn Flare. Like the WPC system, the TORUS boxes are powered by iK42 amplifiers, allowing for flexible use in center clusters, pole mounts on subwoofers, or yoke hangs with up to six units. As part of Martin Audio’s DISPLAY 3 software, TORUS units can seamlessly integrate with WPC systems to provide complete event coverage, from the main hang to front fills, delay stacks, VIP areas, and press zones.  Use of the TORUS Constant Curvature Array boxes is also possible with the addition of Martin SX218 Subwoofers, which Plug n Play also own 4 of, for that extra low-end extension required.

Plug & Play Event Solutions has also joined the Martin Audio rental pool. This means that when touring artists arrive in Namibia with Martin Audio equipment specified on their technical riders, they now have a reliable rental service provider in the country. An Audiosure team traveled to Namibia to provide orientation and training for the Plug & Play team on the setup, handling, and configuration of the new system, ensuring a smooth deployment at their first festival event.

Greg Payne, Managing Director of Audiosure, had the following to say:

“Audiosure extends its best wishes to the Plug & Play Event Solutions team for many happy decibels in the years ahead as they grow both their business and inventory with this exciting acquisition. “
