World Gospel Impact Church installs Martin Audio, Chauvet Professional & Allen & Heath
In preparation for their 2025 Faith Conference, the World Gospel Impact Church in Durban worked with JazzySoul Events to install a state-of-the-art Martin Audio WPC sound system with Allen & Heath Avantis mixers and Chauvet Professional Lighting Fixtures.
Those who were lucky enough to attend the Faith Conference got the full Martin Audio experience with the powerful Wavefront Precision Compact. Run in a 4-a-side setup over 4 dual 18” subs controlled by Martin Audio’s DISPLAY 3 software, the venue was fully mapped so every seat in the venue could have the optimal experience.
WPC is a 3-way bi-amped compact line array housing 2 x 10” drivers in a Hybrid configuration which marries the benefits of both horn and reflex loading. Each driver is slot-loaded into a short horn to give a high sensitivity, while the rear of the driver is reflex-loaded to extend the LF output. Mid and HF horns are physically separate in the box — a key factor in the WPC’s exemplary 100° horizontal constant directivity dispersion pattern. With a peak SPL of 135dB the high-efficiency acoustic design can equal or outperform larger, direct radiator systems.
Audiosure Durban’s Branch Manager, Roland Naicker, shared his thoughts on the growing impact of Martin Audio in the region:
“Martin Audio is steadily becoming the brand of choice for the high-end rental and install market in Durban. Now that the market has been exposed to Martin Audio in various applications, the brand is building a reputation for exceptional sound quality and reliability.”
Njabulo from JazzySoul Events echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the brand’s real-world performance:
“The client loved the sound and warmth of the Martin Audio WPC. They already owned Blackline XP12s, so they were familiar with the brand. To deliver the best results for their live music and sermons, Martin Audio was the obvious choice.”
The WPC was partnered with 4 Martin Audio SXH218. These Dual 18″ Passive Hybrid® Horn/Reflex Subwoofers are the ideal partners for WPS, WPC and WPL line arrays where maximum low-frequency output is required. These horn-loaded subwoofers are perfect for outdoor festivals and can be powered by either a single channel of a Martin Audio iK42 4-channel amplifier or via a bridged pair, if maximum output is required. The system was run on three iK42 Amplifiers which together handled 8 WPC boxes, 4 SXH218 subs and 4 Blackline XP12s.
For live mixing, monitoring and livestreaming, the accomplished Allen & Heath Avantis range was the perfect fit. A total of three Avantis mixers were used, the bigger Avantis was utilized for Front of House while the more compact Avantis Solos were used to mix the Monitors and Broadcast feeds. Avantis features a 96kHz XCVI FPGA engine with class-leading 0.7ms latency plus add-on processing from the flagship dLive mixing system. The larger Avantis has Dual 15.6″ multi-touch screens with 64 total inputs and 42 buses with 16 DCAs and 24 faders with 6 layers allowing for up to 144 fader strips, while the Avantis Solo has a single 15.6” touch screen, 64 inputs and 42 buses, the Solo has 18 assignable SoftKeys, 12 faders with 6 layers allowing up to 72 fader strips.
The show wouldn’t be complete without brilliant illumination and the team at JazzySoul opted for Chauvet Professional fixtures. Ten Rogue R3X Wash moving heads were installed on a lighting bar. These fixtures output a bright, evenly dispersed light and offer nine zones of LED control to pixel map its 37 (25 W) RGBW quad-LEDs, they have a unique lens design that offers excellent colour mixing. Specifically for the Faith Conference, the team added Chauvet Professional Colorado PXL Curve 12s rented in from the AV Company. The result was a breathtaking audio and lighting spectacle enjoyed by all in attendance.
Special thanks go out to JazzySoul Events in Durban.
