The Joshua Generation Church is a vibrant and diverse multisite church that meets across Southern Africa. The Audiosure Solutions team met with the pastor and members of the Sunningdale congregation to refit their auditorium. Our team of product specialists explored the requirements of the Church and designed a specification which was then digitally rendered to give them a view into the space.

Audiosure’s Audio Product Specialist, John Greaves, specified four of the Martin Audio CDD12’s in white, grouped in pairs onto custom Martin Audio wall brackets, which are then mounted onto custom-made poles. The poles not only suspend the speakers from the ceiling but also provide an elegant run point for cable management. The unique pole solution also allows for the perfect positioning of the speakers to take advantage of the 110 x 60 degree coverage of the cabinets due to the Coaxial Differential Dispersion technology featured in the cones. For bass reinforcement, four Martin Audio Blackline X115 Subwoofers were specified for a clean punchy bass.

The speakers are powered by MC2 Digital Amplification, with one Delta D40 DSP providing power for the CDD12’s and one Delta D80 DSP for the subwoofers. The digital Delta range delivers four channels per amp with built-in DSP, so it gives the install less rack space per watt and the DSP per amplifier allows for even more nuanced custom settings for the CDD12 and X115 to be imported and tweaked for the room, which was re-carpeted and soundproofed. It was also decided early on in the process that the Church wanted the best quality audio, so the amplifiers were selected to keep the speakers running low impedance, thereby running them optimally. The result is a crisp audio image that can be heard easily across the venue with a high speech intelligibility index and great deal of musicality for live performances.

The Front of House position carries the mighty Allen & Heath SQ7 Digital Mixer with a DX hub connected to three DX168 expanders housed in the onstage rack. “The band absolutely love the SQ desk and environment as they all utilise iPad, iPhone and Android devices to control their stage mixes”, says John. With the SQ4You application you can have up to 8 performers controlling their own monitor mixes from their devices, freeing the audio engineer up to focus on the front-of-house sound.

For Front of House lighting, four of the Chauvet Professional Ovation P56WW LED par cans were used. These bright, compact, and virtually silent pars are an ideal and sleek, modern-style LED par can that produces a homogenised, single-source, flat and even field of light with an efficient warm white LED system. 95-degree lens are fitted to each light with barn-doors which are suspended from a new fly bar in front of the stage. The SlimPars from the old bar were repositioned to the stage for overhead lighting. The Chauvet DJ Datastream4 was used to optically split the DMX signal and control is done via a Chauvet Obey 70 Controller.

“We were delighted to work alongside Joshua Generation Church, in conjunction with Sean Cornell from Jacs, to find the perfect solution for their needs. We hope that they will enjoy their new system for many years to come” – John Greaves
