The Trinity House Group is a body of Christian Centric schools with a focus on traditional values across their excellent academic, cultural and sports programs. The Audiosure Solutions team met with the principal and board of the school to gather the specifications which were then turned over to our team of product specialists to design a custom audio and stage lighting solution for a space which is shared between the school and a church.

With the venue being longer than narrow, Audiosure Audio Specialist John Greaves opted for two Martin Audio CDD12’s in black coupled with a pair of the Martin Audio Blackline X118 Subwoofers. The CDD12’s offer a 110 degree of horizontal coverage due to their Coaxial Differential Dispersion technology in the cones and, when you pair them together with the Blackline X118 subs it blankets the hall with a warm, rich and musical sound with a high speech intelligibility index. The audio system is further enhanced with the use of the Martin Audio’s DX05 Loudspeaker Management system. Custom settings were uploaded for the system which were measured and then tuned for the space which also features acoustic tiling on the ceiling. Amplification was provided by the workhorse CDP range from Wharfedale Pro with the CPD2600 and CPD3600 amplifiers providing all the needed power.

With the challenge of having to accommodate a school and live venue, the stage needed to be able to be set up quickly for multiple types of performances and to be kept neat. The Allen & Heath QU24 Chrome was chosen for the Front Of House Console. This was connected to an AB1608 stage box in the main rack on stage which is then annexed to an additional AR0804 stage box on the opposite side of the stage. Some of the stage box inputs were then patched to an analog snake to minimize cable runs and offer orderly audio routing to all parts of the stage. Marc Paynter, Audiosure’s Digital Console Specialist, took the time to build custom layers for the QU24 so that operators from the school had easy, but limited access to operate the parts of the mixer they needed, with code access required to access the full functionality of the desk for services and performances.

The AKG WMS420 Vocal sets provided high quality handheld wireless microphones that are suited for both public address and vocal performances, and the stage was rounded out with a pair of the Samson RSX10 Active Monitor Wedges and a Samson S Max MCD2 Pro Stereo DI for balanced connection of Jack, RCA or mini Jack sources into the system.

For stage lighting four of the Chauvet DJ Intimidator Spot 375Z IRC 150W Moving Heads were used, not only for their bright spotlights, but also for their ability to operate as multi-colour effects lighting for dynamic parts of shows and productions. For fixed beams, six of the Chauvet DJ EVE P100’s in warm white were selected to wash the stage in comfortable and warm light during assemblies, and multiple Chauvet DJ EVE P130RGB Par Cans were fitted to the lighting bars to offer vivid colour palettes for live performances and worship. The entire system is connected via CAT cable and distributed via the Chauvet Net-X II with the extremely capable Chamsys QuickQ 20 lighting controller to operate and control the lighting system. This amazing, large-touch screen DMX desk is not only easy to use, it also features WiFi so you can download the QuickQ app and control the lighting and action changes via an Android or Apple device.

Before the system was commissioned at the end of July 2020 the Audiosure Team took the time to conduct one on one training sessions with members of the school’s staff and pupils to ensure that they can discover the capabilities of the system, know how to run it perfectly, and understand how everything flows and is connected.

“Audiosure was very proud to partner with First Technology on this project and deliver a system that we are indeed proud of. It was a pleasure seeing the install come together and our client is extremely happy with the final result. We would like to thank First Technology and Heritage Hill for giving us the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful project”
